Your Support Is Crucial

Your support is crucial in this time of uncertainty. With the shuttering of the tourism industry in Peru, our artisan partners and their families have lost most of their household income. Our artisan partners' husbands work as porters and cooks in the tourism industry, and our artisans earn money through our programs. Before COVID, their income from our programs came from our store in Peru, where we sold their crafts to tourists. They also earned money through our tourism program, where they hosted tourists in their homes. A smaller portion of their income came from Awamaki exporting their product, mostly to small businesses in the U.S. Our artisans' household income has now fallen to nearly zero. We are doing everything we can to find new ways to support them. Currently, this means food distribution. We are also working on ways to keep connecting them to markets, like offering virtual tourism experiences and increasing our online retail sales. Your support right now will allow us to see our artisans through this crisis, however long it may be. We are committed to their long-term food security and economic well-being, and we know you are too. Thank you for joining us in this work.

Awamaki U.S. is a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization. You can donate online on this page. We also welcome checks sent to Awamaki / 4533 15th Ave S / Seattle, WA 98108.
